Request for comment.
Honda, presenting the principles of operation of the e:Hev hybrid system, states that the internal combustion engine directly drives the car (in Engine Drive mode) at high speeds.
My question is this: does the Engine Drive mode also activate at low speeds, i.e. around 40 km/h? I noticed this in my HR-V and I don't know if it's normal or if it's some kind of malfunction.

Hi Jozef,

See attached screenshot.

The way the Honda drive system works is when the battery is between 100% and 10% charge the battery powers the front wheels. When the battery drops to 10%, the engine starts and powers up the generator which then sends electricity to the front wheels and to the battery. At speeds of 100+km/h the motor drives the front wheels. I have personally seen the battery drive the front wheels at 100km/h and it may do so at speeds above 100km/h.
